A pregnancy, a search, and a gap in the market.
When my wife was pregnant, we spent weeks researching baby carriers. We wanted something simple enough to grab-and-go, gentle on a newborn, but sturdy enough to carry a growing toddler. We found plenty of options — but nothing that felt right. Either the quality was questionable, the design was too bulky, or the brand felt completely disconnected from real parenting life.
We decided to build it ourselves — before she arrived.
We launched Hugababe while our daughter was still in the womb. Not out of recklessness, but out of conviction: if we were going to ask parents to trust us with their child, we had to be the ones who cared the most. We sourced OEKO-TEX® certified cotton, developed our SoftCore™ padding technology, and spent months on ergonomic testing before a single order shipped.
Now our daughter is our most honest product tester.
She's 1 year old. She goes everywhere in the carrier — morning errands, afternoon walks, busy travel days. We see every adjustment, every comfort moment, every time it makes life easier for a tired parent. That perspective stays in every decision we make, from fabric selection to packaging. HUGABABE isn't a product line to us. It's how we carry our daughter.
